Exam tips

What people who passed say about CCAR-P. These are candidate reports, not official guidance, so check the official exam guide too.

  • Judgment over tooling. Most items ask you to diagnose a problem, weigh trade-offs and justify a decision for a business. Prompt-writing is a small share.
  • Narrow, don't just watch. When a design is risky, the strongest answer usually removes the capability or access, rather than only logging or gating it.
  • Know how retrieval fails. Chunking, indexing and stale indexes come up when answers go wrong.
  • Spot the regulation. Recognize when GDPR, HIPAA or FedRAMP applies and what it changes in a design review.
  • Talk to stakeholders. Expect questions on scoping vague requests, explaining cost and latency, and documenting decisions.
  • Cover every domain. The seven weights are fairly even, and some items ask you to pick more than one answer. They tell you how many.

About this exam

Claude Certified Architect – Professional is Anthropic's senior architect credential, released in July 2026. It covers the full life of a Claude system, from discovery and design through integration, evaluation, governance and operations.

Some questions ask you to pick more than one answer and say how many to choose. The domain weights are fairly flat, so plan to cover all seven rather than focusing on one or two.

The exam guide recommends three or more years of systems architecture experience and six or more months running Claude, or a similar LLM system, in production. Foundations isn't a prerequisite. Registration has been limited to Claude Partner Network employees.
